von steffen am 2012-02-28 23:54
2011-2013 Aufbau eines Verarbeitungs- und Weiterbildungszentrums Chencha; Febr. 2012

We have recived 700 kilo plum yesterday from Chenica, that has to be done as urgently as possible. Our working visiters Steffen, Jens, Claudia are so helpful, that we have been yesterday until 2 a.m. with 6 ecopia workers processed 90 kilo of plum in syirp, compot, wine. It is nice to have such kind of help. Steffen first wine production, all exact in ml and grams, Claudia with the "Pilze" so microbiology and Jens with his lightness of handwerk. It feels been in Jena.

We have today an important day, a visit of the top Resterant in town (Castele it is almost michelen), the contract with SNV, the sending the HIV project to International Labour Organisation, processing the 610 kilo of Plum.

As a women and intern Martha has taken this moring a mama role, she is now out with the kids to school.
I am organising the day until the others weakup and the workers come.

The only bad thing about all coming from Germany is that they brought also the german bacterias and viruses, so I have also a pain of cold.

Wish as all a nice day.
Mislal

Mitslals report from Addis

von steffen am 2008-11-06 23:00
Dear Ecopia team in Europe,

Now it is 8:00 in Ethiopia, Julius and Marta has taken Josi and Felix to school and I am going to start my day in my office, what a privilege. The last days have been for me very hard:
· Renting the premises beside,
· Cleaning and installing all equipments again,
· Starting processing Guva Jam,
· Integrating Julius and Marta (was not so difficult) Julus shows to be very helpful in all repairing and insulations,
· Dealing with the youth and the farmers in Chenica,
· Preparing the kids to school (What a school, you have feeling you good from slams to Sheraton)

All this with raining Addis (the climate change has affected Ethiopia it is raining now, bad for the harvesting) , no hot water in the house, no car, the exchange rate of euro to Ethiopian birr has moved down from 14 birr for one euro to 12 birr for one euro etc.. Felix, Josi and Martha and myself have also attacked by cold. (Addis is rainning) We are feeling much better (excpet Felix).

Yesterday, I created my island by making my office with white tissue and starting to manage from the office. Yesterday evening we made in our new place Lasagna for dinner to say it is now finish.

Today we will start (after Julius has moved our cooking place to the new place) making Guva jam. The employees expect we slloter (kill) a sheep to open the new premises so I am planning this weekend to slloter a sheep and create Ecopia traditional banking. I will explain that to Marta and she would write it for you in details.

My dear Angela, we have not been so far to buy a fridge with the money you gave because we had to rent the premises beside in order to start working in big scale.

My dear Christiane, we could consider now ordering the glass jars. I will prepare it for you first.

As my dear Christiane suggested, I am planning this weekend to go for relaxing to Hilton with the kids and the interns.

Despite all the challenges, it is real good to have inputs we get from the clients and from the meetings. I am also very glad that Marta and Julisus are with me. I am looking forward to the good results we are working hard to make.

Today we have a visit from a potential client wanting to have Feta in big production volume.

By the way the method of Jena plan school has shown to be excellent, Felix and Josi have no problems in the school, they are very happy to be the good once. There teachers are very happy about their communication skills.

My dear Stefen can you send me the e-mail of the group so that Felix can send them the email. He is asking me every day.

I am glad to tell you now that I am happy to start my day and I am planning to make the best of it.

Today we will start also our coffee project.

Tomorow will be the mango day, we hope we can have it dry to send it to susana.

This afternoon is my mashroom day, with this we plann to win Sheraton.

Next week we will go to the goverment to ask the standar office to give us green light for our production facilitiy. The wine production is going to make it.

Have a nice day and thank you for all of your support, for having been every day by email asking and giving me the strenght to make the day with results.

Thank you Mitslal

---------------------- Steffen
